The May issue of The Edge of the Forest is up and it looks fabulous, as always. I'm stealing Kelly's preview links here because I haven't had a chance to read it all yet, but I'm going back just as soon as I finish blogging today...

The Edge of the Forest

Just out today, there's a huge double issue of The Edge of the Forest, packed with great stories about children's literature. Check out, for example, a review of an adult book (no, not that kind!), Before Green Gables. And then there's this lovely feature by Candice Ransom, a memoir of a long friendship and an appreciation of Trina Schart Hyman. There's an interview with Peter Cameron, by Barbara Shoup, Barrie Summy is this month’s Blogging Writer, interviewed by Becky Levine, and Sounds from the Forest is back. There are book recommendations and, as always, lots and lots of book reviews--so many that there's even a bonus section! There's even a book review by me.

The next issue of The Edge of the Forest is due out in May; this one's got plenty to keep you busy until then.

The Edge of the Forest

The February Edge of the Forest is just up--another fabulous labor of love from the wonderful (and, I believe, overworked!) Kelly Herold. I've only just skimmed the surface--but make sure you read Little Willow's defense of YA literature. (It sounds a little like the rant I went on the other night at Knit Night...I hope I didn't scare off my fellow knitters!)

The Edge of the Forest

The new Edge of the Forest is up, and as always there are some wonderful things to read. I just finished this lovely interview with Jane Resh Thomas, and I am energized just by reading her words. (Check out her "six admonitions" for the writer. I'm putting those above my desk, and in the front of all my writing notebooks.)

Then there are, as always, the reviews of all sorts...including mine of The Name of this Book is Secret (scroll down; two of us reviewed this one!). (And when can I get my hands on The Sweet Far Thing?) And if you've been worried that kids aren't reading, check out the Kids' Picks. I was also delighted to find this interview with Holly Thompson, whose new book, The Wakame Gatherers, sounds fascinating.

October's Edge of the Forest is up and as always there's all kinds of great stuff. I haven't gotten very far with it yet, but I've already bookmarked Pam Coughlan's piece about whether funny books can be taken seriously. (Do I especially love this because she gives John Green the last word in it? Why, yes!)
